The Gender Revolution: From the 1960s to Now

Category:

Description

Gender is often reduced to biology, as if it is simple and self-evident. Over six weeks we will cover a brief history of the Gender Revolution—its development and cultural impact, focusing on both the women’s fight for equality and queer liberation, with attention to race and class. Gain an understanding of key definitions, a brief history of the women’s movement and the LGBTQ movement, and the science of sex, gender, and sexuality. We’ll define and explore concepts including feminism, gender identity, transitioning, pronouns, misogyny and the patriarchy, privilege, and whether gender fluidity is a modern idea.
